In life, many people mortgage their future because of certain nauseating experiences of the past. By dwelling on their bitterness, they lose the taste for adventure and the sweetness of the struggle that is theirs. They see themselves as the victims of social or divine injustice, refusing to take responsibility for themselves and the courage to evolve. And yet, in the distance, we see people who are less privileged and less well-off giving themselves every opportunity to get ahead. So there's no excuse not to try.
All in all, the quest for happiness and well-being is a choice. We choose to be happy or unhappy, we intentionally choose to be who we are. There's no imaginary dark hand unconsciously steering the pawns of our lives, but we are who we are through the actions we take on a daily basis. It's these actions that create our happiness or frustration, bitterness or fulfillment. And because this is such a crucial question, Academy Twenty One Chairman Dr Raoul Ruben held a masterly training session in Lubumbashi. He focused on a very important theme: THE SIGNS OF WELL-BEING.
In our daily lives, we can obtain certain privileges with ease and convince ourselves that they are a given. No, nothing is a given, but a consequence of the intentional and even unconscious actions we take on a daily basis. He placed great emphasis on the different facets of well-being, of which there are several:
1- PHYSICAL WELL-BEING.
At the root of everything, we're multi-dimensional human beings, and the physical is a very important and vital dimension of this. It's how we move, communicate and interact with others. It's also our main means of movement, and this capital is the basis of our self-fulfilment.To ensure our physical well-being, it's crucial to engage in regular physical activities such as sport, dance, swimming and so on.
It's also important to take into account the quality of your diet and, above all, the quality of your sleep.
Because quality sleep is not defined by the length of time it takes to fall asleep, but rather by the quality of the sleeping system we use.
2- MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING.
Man in his overall composition was not designed for some of his dimensions to be more pronounced than others, but for him to have a balance in the alignment of the expression of these dimensions. This balance is a prerequisite for real fulfillment.Mental and emotional well-being focuses on our mental health, taking into account the construction of our state of mind and, above all, our ability to be resilient in the face of life's challenges. And because resilience doesn't just happen, we need to cultivate it through reading, leisure activities, stress management and personal conflict management. It's always in the face of challenges that our true nature comes to the fore, determining whether we're strong, courageous, ambitious or just cowards in war dress.
3- SOCIAL WELL-BEING.
Success is impossible without social well-being, which is an important step on the stairway to success.Any success that does not have a social impact is a selfish success. In fact, society is the best place to express our achievements, our assets and our stature. That's why, to achieve fundamental social well-being, it's important to be useful to others, by taking part in social works, supporting the underprivileged, and helping to build society by supporting community projects. This dimension enables us to connect with others, to understand their weaknesses and, above all, to nurture the feeling of peace of mind that comes from having been of help or support to people in need.In addition to all these ramifications of well-being, there's one very important and indispensable aspect that shouldn't be overlooked, and that's :
4- SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING.
Dr Raoul Ruben kept the Lubumbashi audience on its toes for over two hours. It was as if we were in an amphitheatre, given the arrangements made by all participants not to miss a single ounce of this message, so rich and useful for our personal and collective development. Life within the A21 community is a dream in the making, and only time will show the beauty of the edifice we've built in secret.
