The meaning of life is so deep and subtle that we can't be satisfied with a few superficial apprehensions and believe that we've taken a step towards understanding such a complex marvel. If we take a closer look at our own existence, we'll realize that we've been going strong for a long time, and that we simply weren't aware of it. In fact, every step of our existence bears witness to the fact that there is strength within us, and that this strength is at the origin of who we are. Like a guardian angel, it watches over our growth and emergence, ensuring that we can make the most of each of our missteps.
The truth is, it's not possible to succeed at anything without the guidance of either a coach or a mentor. The terms coach and mentor are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct roles.
COACH:
A coach is usually a trained professional who guides a person to achieve specific goals, which could be short-, medium- or long-term.The coach asks questions, gives advice and provides support to help the coachee(s) identify their strengths, weaknesses and develop concrete action plans. Coaching is often focused on personal, professional or leadership development, and can be used in different areas such as career, business, health or wellness, etc.
A MENTOR:
A mentor on the other hand is an experienced and sometimes older person who shares their knowledge, experience and advice with a less experienced person called the mentee. Mentoring is generally a longer-term relationship, in which the mentor offers ongoing support, advice and encouragement to his/her mentee(s). Unlike coaching, mentoring is less structured and more focused on sharing personal experiences to help others make informed decisions and progress in their careers or personal goals.
Listening to inspiring people is one thing, but having the privilege of getting up close and personal with them is quite another.
A21 Chairman Dr Raoul Ruben breaks down barriers of language, culture, lifestyle and paradigm. It was an unprecedented experience, an effervescence of emotion and energy. It was as if we were experiencing the transfiguration of Moses live on Mount Sinai. No, it was a rendezvous between a dream and the possibility of its materialization, because Academy Twenty One aims to be the bridge between your dreams and their realization. This is just the beginning of a beautiful journey that will end at the Palais des Sports in Yaoundé next August, but in the meantime, Dr. Raoul Ruben's next destination is Kinshasa for an experience just as exciting as the others.
